LA City Pilgrimage
June 18-july 23
LA City Pilgrimage is a week-long urban immersion program for high school students within the Diocese of Los Angeles. It is a week of service in and around LA, but it is also a week of looking for God where God can be found. This experience encourages students to question who their neighbor is and how to make their neighbor the subject of engagement and community rather than the object of pity. Through listening those on the margins of society and witnessing first-hand the consequences of economic injustice, students grapple with how to love their neighbor and evaluate their Christian faith through the lens of Christ’s ministry and work.
Memorial Day, In Memoriam
May 27 -- Riverside National CEMETERY
Join the PGYM and St. John's, La Verne in remembering those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Youth, families, and friends--all are welcome. Flags will be provided.
30 Hour Fast March 10-11
Students are invited into the ancient Lenten practice of fasting and to experience that fast within the context of social justice, specifically the reality of food scarcity in and around Los Angeles. Throughout this experience we wrestle with the hard questions of what Jesus is calling us to do and be in our world today.
EYE -- Episcopal Youth Event
July 10-14 -- University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond
Every three years the Episcopal Church convenes an international youth event so “that the energy of the youth of the Episcopal Church can continue to be utilized in active ministry as members of the Body of Christ.”
Since the first EYE in 1982, this popular event has welcomed thousands of young people from across the Episcopal Church for celebration, worship, learning, and leadership training.
The next Episcopal Youth Event (EYE17) will be held in partnership with the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma from July 10-14, 2017 on the campus of the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond.
Jan 28, 2017-- St. Cross, Hermosa Beach
The Bishop's Ball is the largest gathering of Episcopalians outside of convention.
